Marc Miller, an Austin based career coach and a Baby Boomer, has changed careers six times. Marc has worked for large companies including IBM and Lucent as a programmer, engineer, help desk support, trainer, manager, marketer and IT consultant. He has been involved with two successful high tech startups, Agere Inc. and LifeSize Communications developing training programs. He taught high school math and worked in the non-profit sector in between the two high tech startups. He has delivered training in over 35 different countries. Marc has had an eclectic career.
What sets Marc apart is he has experienced multiple life changing events followed by a career change. Just one of those happened in 2002 when riding his bicycle he hit an automobile head on where the combined speeds exceeded 50 miles per hour. Even though he spent five days in a trauma center, he was back on a bicycle in ten weeks. At those speeds there is a 10% survival rate. The following year he decided to get his Texas High School Math teacher certification and taught Algebra I and II in an inner city high school for two years. Marc and his wife Lotus are now empty nesters and have now downsized their home and their lifestyle to enable Marc to build a coaching practice based on making purposeful and holistic decisions on career and lifestyle.
Marc is certified as an About U (powered by the Birkman Method) Advisor. The Birkman method is a comprehensive assessment that focuses on interests, behaviors, preferred work style, and organizational focus. This is a valuable tool that assists clients in gaining valuable insight into who they are and more importantly what they want.
